Hello everyone,

My honeymoon will be this upcoming March 08 and looking for a nice and fun destination.

Im leaning towards the Carribean specifically St. Martin. I want a mix of leisure time and the option of sightseeing and mild adventure. I want a clean hotel resort type of place that isn't too commercial nor too dirty at the same time. I know its kind of specific but I want it to be just right. My budget ... whole trip 10k.

help a stressed buddy out.

thx

Patrick

My brother went to the barbados for his honeymoon, he said it was awesome. Look into that place.

I went on vacation to Bermuda and Bahamas (two separate cruises) and had a lot of fun. Seems to me that the the activities on all of the islands will be pretty similar.

I do have to say that cruises are nice. Look into Royal Caribbean.

For my honeymoon, I went to a resort called Cap Jaluca.
It is on a tiny island called Anguilla which is right next to french side of St Martin.
I think we paid 6,000 for a week which included airfare. It was very exclusive (stars tend to go there). Service was excellent, rooms great, every room right on ocean. Very friendly island with some great restaurants. St Martin was a 15 minute ferry ride. No large planes or cruise ships were allowed to Anguilla.
We still get compliments on the pictures we took while we were there. It was something right out of a magazine. Here is the website if you are interested.
Hope this helps!

For 10 grand, go to Venice. Different than the islands but still lots of water and more to see than most places on Earth. How much more romantic can you get than a gondola ride down the Grand Canal. The amount of "points" you get for a trip like that will get you Porsche parts when you just have to have to have them or can be used as a"Get Out Of The Doghouse Card" when you really screw up. Congradulations and good luck in your future life together. Ed

Go to the south island of New Zealand. You can get the Swiss Alps, outback, rain-forrest, fiourds and glaciers all in one place. Great people, food, and views. No lauguage barriers, they love Americans and the US dollar is (was?) pretty strong there.

I spent 2-weeks of my honeymoon there several years ago.

The flight over is a 8itch, though!

Moostang,

I highly recommend the Bahamas. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there last year at the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort and everything ( food, accommodations, weather ) was top notch :

We spent our honeymoon on a cruise in Tahitian islands. If you are interested in staying at a resort, there are some nice ones in Bora Bora. Great diving and very relaxing.

Check out Sandals resorts. Lots of Carribean destinations. Reasonable, all inclusive, great restaraunts, sailing, scuba, hiking, historic tours, live bands, no kids, couples only. Nice places.

um.. what does "she" want? Also look ahead. Do you really want/need a lavish get away right now or would saving for a home, or a GT3, be a better way to treat 10K. You can have "hotel sex" nearly anywhere ;)

We did Hawaii. Great trip. Great time. At the same time I kept thinking.. mmm Sparcos, Rollcage and Tires for several seasons would be just as nice to me as 2 weeks in Hawaii ;)

To each his own!

In the Caribbean the only place I would recommend is St. Johns. We stayed at the Westin St. John and it was incredible. The water is great. Food was fantastic all over the Island. Much to do there. Locals are super friendly and plenty of taxi transportation. Shopping is excellent and you can take a 20 minute ferry ride to St. Thomas if you want even more shopping. Would go back in a minute!

On our honeymoon we went to a great place in Nuevo Vallarta called the Grand Velas. Check out Grandvelas.com Unbelievable hotel. Five star and one of the "Leading Hotels of the World". Excellent restaurants on site, top notch spa, all rooms are ocean front. It took only 4 hours from the east coast to get there. Tons of site seeing and shopping as well as excellent golf! Check it out!

Hindsight, dont get married! Just joking!

Best of luck!

I can second Venice as a trip, but if you want sun and beach water, also check out Costa Rica. You can pick your choice of Atlantic or Pacific ocean sides

" hotel sex" is a given... or it better be! haha... 10k is alot of money.. and I plan to stay under that. I can live with 7k ish.... Hawaii has moved up in ranking.. It will be an easy flight home to San Diego.

Saving for a home or a porsche repair is on my mind as well.. I want to enjoy within my means. St. Johns I will research.. thx guys

Hi, I went to the Canary Islands, stayed in Tenerife which belongs to Spain, 7 Islands all together, while there also took a cruise to visit another island called La Gomera, beautiful places just off the northwest coast of Africa, Just what you asked for, I stayed at the Bitacora Hotel, a pyramid styled hotel.

The Caymans is another possibility. We went down there a few years ago and stayed in the same place they filmed the Caymans portion of "The Firm".

Great beaches, amazing scuba diving, we had lots of fun.

We did St. John about 6 months ago for our honeymoon and it was fantastic. We lucked out on the villa we rented because it was a short walk from the westin hotel which has taxi pickup, a huge pool, outdoor bars, groceries, and four restaurants.

St. John was nice because it is so quiet. 90% of the island is national forest and has no houses on it. You can find virgin coral, the beaches are not crowded, and the food is great.

I found the link to the villa we got. It was perfect for a honeymoon with jaccuzzi, upper and lower deck, hammock, personal beach, kitchen, nice bathroom and secluded. http://www.stjohnproperties.net/villas_string_of_pearls.html

$10K?! Hats off to you buddy! I know some el cheapo skate married guys and they aren't poor either.

My HM would be in Italy..probably Positano, Sorrento, etc. the whole Amalfi coast is ridonkulus. Like if you're in a movie. Southern Spain, Alicante and Majorca(sp?)was big with the ladies. But the dollar is in the toilet.

I have this booking with Marriott where you get these dirt cheap rates for a preview stay in their time share properties. The only hitch is it has to be off-season (May-Dec.) Think I paid $400 for a week in St. Kitts (http://www.marriott-vacations.com/packages.asp). Actually you can choose anyone of their properties.

You will not be disapointed!!!
That was my suggestion I might add.

I will send you a few pix if you post your email.
All of the restaurants are superb. Beef is a specialty in that part of
Mexico so please eat as much as you can handle. The Chateau briand
in Piaf is unbelievable and the Italian place is fantastic.. Come to think
about it, all of the restaurants are excellent.

Every room in the place has ocean views and are very large. The pool is
great. The waiters around the pool will remember your name every day.
Find Francisco... he will take care of you.

The ocean front restaurant is great for lunch.... do not miss the shrimp
tempura! Corona and shrimp tempura poolside.. that is living.

Check out the spa. It is world class. Do the couples massage and get a manicure...
You can still be manly with a manicure... it is ok.

As far as excursions.. dont miss the dune buggy tour through the mountains and villages of mexico. We did this and it was so much fun.. We ended up at a tequila factory doing shots and then driving dune buggys through river beds. P.S. dont wear anything good at all on this excursion.

What else can I say. Grand Velas was truely one of the best places we have been!

I am so glad you chose that resort... you will be too.

Joe, I'm more excited now than ever. I will definitely look into that excursion. I need this vacation man... !! .. And i stayed well under my budget!.. more porsche parts in the future.... or rent haha.

I wasn't sure where to go for a while... but this place is it. I'll def. look for those pics

Thanks again

Patrick

If you could stand a relatively secluded island, consider Anguilla. Beautiful fine white sand beaches, great food, seclusion, clear waters, mainly Europeans and few families. Cap Juluca, Cuisinart and other luxury resorts plus many sandcastles to rent. Easiest way to get there is plane to St. Martin, boat (30 min/$20) to Anguilla. Not cheap, but as a Porsche driver you already know that the best costs more.
