I have an appearance in front of the man tomorrow. Got stoped at a check point and I didn't have my insurance card. This was about 4 hours before I was supposed to be on an international flight! Somehow got home and returned with a bill saying I was payed up. They didn't tow my car but gave me a ticket for no insurance $180. Now I have to go and prove I did have insurance all along.
Which brings me to a question: I wasn't charged with failing to show documents which is its own code. If I demonstrate that I have insurance can they go and charge me with failing to show documents if I wasn't charged at the scene?
Wouldn't they have had to charge me with both before I appear?
I'm sure they will want me to pay a fine for failing to show documents in order to avoid a formal trial on the insurance issue, which they will lose of course. What concerns me is if I choose to go to trial they'll most likely dismiss the case but hit me "court costs"....hmmm..
