View Full Version : Totally Bizarrre Houston TX Question
My wife and I are in the process of rescuing a Pekingese that was seized from a puppy mill in the Houston area. Now, we have to get the poor little thing from Houston to Maryland. Anyone on the forum driving from Houston to the DC area in the end of November/beginning of December who would be willing to accept an 11 pound stowaway?
I know the chances are slim, but I thought I'd ask my friends before trusting her to a pet transport company. She's had a tough little life until now. This will be a reversal of fortunes the likes of which she's never imagined.

Griz,
Sorry, can't help you out, but that is a great thing that you are doing, and best of luck to you !

Good luck getting your Pek home. It's a good thing you do. We took in an abused Blue Tick Coon Hound once. It took her 6 months to learn to trust us. Then she became the best dog we ever owned.

Grizz, I live in Houston and I'll help you on this end if I can.
I have UPS pickups daily. How about we poke a few holes in a cardboard box and slap a label on the box and ship that puppy to you?
OK, not funny. Really. I'm not laughing at all.
Hey, if you fly down here to get the dog I'm happy to pick you up at the airport, help you retrieve the dog and get you back to the airport.
PM me if you need my assistance.
Have you ever seen that commercial where the guy ships himself to the business meeting? It's like five years old and I still crack up every time his box falls out of the back of the truck.
I appreciate your offer of assistance Randall and will certainly take you up on it should we end up flying her. We are really trying to keep her on the ground. People fly their pets all the time, but it isn't very pleasant for the animal.
How about a 986forum puppy rescue bucket brigade. I volunteer for Dallas to somewhere in Arkansas or Louisiana the weekend of December 8th. Anyone else?

Hey Grizz-
My in-laws are in Houston and I have not heard if they plan on driving to see us for the holidays yet, but if they do, I'll PM you and you can come down to Richmond and get the dog.
They are dog people, (2 greyhounds) and I'm sure they wouldn't mind if they wind up heading east.
