Vertex please come back

Is it just me or did anyone else notice the HUGE google ad in place of the Vertex banner. Really unatractive. Why couldn't they make it twice as wide and half as tall? I know there are bills to be paid but this is really distracting.

Get Firefox. Then get the AdBlock Plus add-on. I haven't seen a banner, pop-up, or embedded ad since I installed it.

I am with Bruce.. I run another online community, with a couple of tasteful ad's and sponsors that help me pay the hosting bills each month..

I like the idea of blocking ad's, but they are an important revenue stream for our webmasters.

Well that's my point exactly, the Vertex ads are small banner style ads that blend with the page and are interesting to the readers of the board. The google ads are large and just plain obnoxious. This page google is advertising:

Pop up blocker software
Gay Male Personals
Carmax
& Porsche leasing secrets.

I am not against advertisors, in fact if they help support this board I am all for them. My point was that there could be a little more attention to the size, placement and content of the ads being displayed by google. I guess I am just a little dissapointed that the Porsche parts people are on the left and the dating service commands the top of the page.

My Google ads come up as a box about 2 by 3 inches. Is that what you are referring to?

I think that he is talking about the 2 inch by 3 inch ads.

I forget what other board it is but they run the ads across the top in a 1 inch by 6 inch ad.

That may look cleaner but as I said in another post Bruces board Bruces rules!!
