I have a golden retreiver. She's 4 years old now and goes to work with me every day. I'm the boss so I gave myself permission to do this. Here's a picture me, my wife and our dog:

Dude! You've got a black boxster and a golden retriever, just like I do!

Does your golden like driving around with the top down?

He loves it. When I tell him we're going for a ride, he sits next to the Boxster, not next to the Jetta I bought to shlep him around in :)

I took my golden retreiver in my boxster the other day with the top up as she's a rescued dog and skiddish. She curled up in the passenger footwell and slept the whole time.

I think I'll take her in it a few more times with the top up and then try it topless and see if she freaks out. I must devise a way to leash her in the car as I can't shift and hold on to her collar simultaneously.

I have a car harness I bought from Petsmart for my dog. It straps him in using the seatbelt, and will help hold him in place if we're ever in an accident and the airbag goes off. Usually he sits up on the seat like in the picture, or he lays on the seat with his head across the tunnel in my lap.

I take it you are single or your wife or girlfriend doesn't mind staying at home while you drive around with your golden.

Because my wife and I work together each day and bring our dog to work with us in the "carpool" I can't drive my boxster nearly as much as I like to do. Plus, it seems to rain every time I have a weekend free and I just don't drive the car in foul weather. Too many idiots have no idea how to drive on slick roads here in Houston.

I will definitely take my golden out with the top down soon to see if she likes it. I'll let you know what happens.

The Boxster itself didn't give away the fact that I'm single?

RandallNeighbour

Nope. I've been married for 18 years and just got my Boxster earlier this year at 42 years old.

Well, I'm 29 and most 29 year olds I know have things getting in the way of Boxster ownership. Like wives and children :)

Now you're a man who certainly has his priorities in order!

It's hard to warm up to your Porsche on a cold winter night like I do with my wife... you have to tear off the carpeting, the heat sheild and then akwardly cuddle the engine while fighting off the base of the convertible top.

Just don't get any romantic ideas... you could get burned, and far worse than a woman scorned!

I've got a Yellow Lab (best dog I've ever had) and a white/tan Cocker Spaniel (wife's dog) that I'm convinced is either possessed or brain damaged.

This is how I got my Boxster........

1. Got girlfriend to agree to pay lease on other car (the Passat)
2. Got Boxster
3. Proposed to Girlfriend
4. Got married
5. Bought a house

Still have the Boxster!

The only concession I made was that she is allowed to drive it - occasionally ;)

I know now that if I had done it in any other order, I wouldn't have got the Boxster.

:D

Until recently, I have not been stable enough to have a pet (undergrad student, living in a different ghetto apartment every semester...).

I'm about to close on my first house (May 25), and it has a fenced in backyard, so I think a Siberian Husky is going to be in order....

Funny story: We live in the boonies. Turns out a dog photographer lived not far. She got a request from a publisher, called around to the local vets looking for dogs, then called us.

The whole Wheaten 'show and breeding community' is very snooty.. and here Bella & Luna are on the front of this breed-specific book having been born in a double-wide in W. central Florida without a very high pedigree.

They were six when the shots were taken, 10 now. They are typically within about 20' - 24hrs a day. I don't take them to the beach or on vacation, but since I'm the boss - they come to work. They are great dogs but the mistake we made was two females from the same litter. One reason they are kept so close is they will fight like hell if given a few minutes to give the other a 'look'.

but I'm more of a cat lover actually.....Dogs are a bit more demanding of your time, and with 2 kids, etc., I could use a little peace! :)

Can't believe no one owns a cat! Seems a tad strange, but....

Heres Sable, our Natural mink Tonkinese.....shes not one for the car, last car I had she scratched up one of the leather seats just as I was taking off, so she'll not be going in the car unless shes put in a carrier...

BigIsland: Cats here too... Just buried (I DON'T LIKE BURIALS!!!) Sqweaks the shop cat and have another semi-wild at home that kills anything about 50% of his weight. Most recent 'prize' was a baby possum. Uggg...

Cats are cool, but they don't follow you around and watch you wash the car...

Two dogs. Mutt 1 and Mutt 2 aka Peanut & Butter Cup. Not much of an animal lover, but the kids wanted dogs so we have them (at least for the next 5 years until the younger one is off to college ;) )

Two cats. George (17 pounder) a Grey Tabbie and Gracie, a Tuxedo cat like "Sylvester". George thinks it is funny to walk across your face in the middle of the night and Gracie likes to sleep on top your pillow (above your head) and stick her "Winking Eye" right in your face while you sleep. Nothing like waking up to that in the morning...ugh. :barf:

Don't have our own dog - but we keep my daughter's dog (the grand-dog). We watch her for all the Clemson home games, daughter has season tickets. Neat little dog - legs are short but can pull stumps (good low end torque). :)
Wife has goldfish - sorry no photo.
Backyard has squirrels, a raccoon, an occasional possum, ducks, geese, muskrats, and every so often a beaver. A regular zoo.

My wife and I got an Airedale Terrier back in early November. He's now about 15 weeks old. Your life changes quickly once you get a puppy!

Say hello to Winston .. next to the Boxster of course :)

I do not trust either of them with the top down, neither of them fit too well in the boxster anyway, and they just slip and slide on the leather :D
