View Full Version : OK, so no one uses this area, how about a lounge?

It is clear that no one uses this area at all.
If I may make a suggestion, how about utilizing this area for a general discussion lounge?
Topics could be Boxster related or not, any topic is fair game. See something interesting in the news on TV, on the internet, favorite movie you have seen lately, war, peace, oil........whatever.
Well, just a thought. Perhaps it would generate some more posting here.
We could call it the Boxster Lounge.
Slide me a cold one there bartender! OK, you lounge lizards, let's have some fun.
Cheers!

Oh my, just sitting here at the bar in the lounge and Jorge has already renamed the place.
So where is everybody? Oh well, the ladies here in the lounge........wait, there are no women here at all. Darn.
Anyway, Jorge -- the Boxster Lounge it is.

Boy, it sure is lonely here in the lounge. I mean no takers so far at all.
Hmmmm?
Hey ! Im here. :) I just prefer a real drink rather than that virtual stuff. It just dosnt have the same taste to it :)
Its been a busy day at my other forum home theater discussion. We reached 500 members today and gave away the sacd player.

What is an SACD player? Haven't heard of that before. I know about just about every kind of player, but excuse my ignorance, that is a new one to me.
What's the status of your Boxster ownership, are you still waiting or is there one in the pipeline for you already?
A legal age single malt would sure taste good about now -- that's at least a 18 year old single malt scotch, for all of you non-scotch drinkers!!
Hmmm, I guess this lounge is kind of quite......
SACD is Super Audio Compact Disc: basically, it is an extended dynamic range CD, which requires a special player (not a basic CD player). SACDs can (but does not have to be) be multi-channel, beyound the classical 2 channel stereo format of a CD. SACD technology was developed jointly by Philips and Sony.
Bottom line -- sound "may" be improved (player/unit dependent as in most things).

Thanks for the info. I did not know about SACD. Where I work (online eCommerce retailer) we sell among other things electronics and almost all the related media, but we don't sell those as far as I know. SACD sounds like it is more of a high end CD media than we offer. Good to know about it though. Could be we sell it and I just have not noticed it either, we have over a million SKUs, so they might be there someplace.
Several companis manufacturer and distribute SACD format media. As one would expect, being a developer of the technology, Sony distributes many. However, looking at a recently received High-end audio supply/disc catalog, there are about 30 distributors of SACDs. Also, there are around 6 or 7 equipment manufactures whom have SACD compatible CD players, ranging from, inexpensive (a few hundred $) up to many thousands of $.
Does your e-company market any high end audio stuff? I have found on-line purchasing is easy, convenient, and sometimes saves a few $.

I would say what we sell in audio is not high end. Check out http://www.buy.com and judge for yourself, but I think you will agree that our product line is not high end.
OK, well the link probably won't work since Jorge has turned off the HTML code now. Was on this morning just a while ago. Oh, well.......you know the routine. Copy and paste or just type it in.
EDIT: Well, the HTML code is ON I guess, even though it says OFF right now. Just did a quick search of the site and we do sell one unit that plays SACDs by Philips, but it's a backorder.

We also sell some Home Theater stuff and some Plasma displays. Hell, we sell everything under the sun.
mjbliemel,
whats your affiliation with buy.com ? Are you aware of the forum Hometheaterdiscussion ?

That's where I work. I work as a QA Engineer/Software Tester.
I am aware of your forum for Home Theater, but I am not much of a watcher of TV or Video. Spend most of my time on the computer. Actually too much time on the computer!
Actually, you do have some high-end stuff -- For example, Seenheiser HD600 headphones. They are perhaps the worlds best, (non-electrostatic) headphones. Your price is bit high though......
