I offered the guy 29.5k for it and wanted to know what you all thought about the price.

I wasn't planning to trade cars in 08, but this car is exactly what I want for our DD and is the right color (black on black) and has the right features I wanted. The mileage is also low and the car is still under factory warranty.

BTW, if anyone can run the VIN (in the listing) and let me know how it checks out, that would be great.

Thanks.

Randall, nice car!

It is a gret time to buy luxury item, as a cash buyer. Lots of motivated sellers out there.

Black on black in Houston? Ooouch. That's gonna be hot. But, you have been -there-done-that!

We drove a 525 and found it to be nice and zippy for getting on the freeway, etc. I'd given thought to a 535i, but I don't want the repair bill on the turbo when the car gets old (we keep em for 12+ years).

The 2007's have a 3.0 liter they call the 528i I think. That's probably a good bump.

Can you tell me what all those numbers mean by the listings?

And can you buy cars wholesale at the Manheim auction?

I'm actually looking for someone who can find me a BMW at this auction, check it out, buy it and sell it to me, and I expect them to tack on profit to make it worth their while.

well you need to be a dealer to be able to buy from auctions after then price its the millage, then conditions, color, engine size. transmission, my cuz owns a used bmw dealer ship up here in va, but i think thats a little to far away from you.

It's always been my dream to have an all-German stable.

I just didn't think having German cars would cost 10x more per year than having a Japanese stable.

It's worth it though just to say I don't own an American or Japanese car for a while at least.

As someone who is half german, I have to say you may want to rethink this idea a bit.

I have owned several BMWs and I do love them. from a driver's perspective. However, they are not, as we might say, robut in the durability dept.

Suggest some research on their "lifetime" lubed tramissions as a start.

Oye.

I was about to bite the same bullet a few weeks ago. I was trying my hardest to find a nice clean x3 because the Touareg was terrible for small BS service. Every person I talked to warned me that the BMW was no better on service and spent many a night in the shop. The interiors all had the soft touch paint that looks so pretty when new, then peels a year later.

I thought about the little lexus I have with 55k miles and not one service appointment, then the tundra I put 100k on with no problems, and decided to stick with the asians on my next suv purchase.

Ok, guys...

He must be fretting over the fact that he's had this car on his lot for so long. I just know it.

What kind of ding do you take by having a CA buyback title?

http://www.garnettmotorcars.com/vehicle_detail.php?ID=738

I'd love to offer the guy 30k or less, but want to do it with some knowledge of what a buyback title does to the value of a car.

BTW, this is a different black on black BMW than the one I asked about above.

I've watched this dealer relist this particular car on fleaBay for something like three or four months now.

But you can still feel more proud than the Italians. :)

He emailed me and said $37k bottom line, no haggle price.

He's only coming off the KBB retail price by something like $2,500 when he should probably be coming off the price something like $10,000.

My brother bought an S500 a few years ago that was 18 months old and had about the same amount of miles on it. It too was a CA buyback car sold in Texas with a clear title... and he got that car for $49k when clear title examples of the car were selling for $69k or more.

Fortunately, we're just weeks away from 09's being delivered to dealerships, making every 07 and 08 BMW 5 series car I'm looking at a couple of grand cheaper. Plus, I'm in no hurry.

around a year ago i had an 2002 5series (530i) with the M sport package and all the hooplah.. loved the gas mileage on the car and it turned out to be a great daily driver.. just enough power to scoot around and great mileage.. so i would totally jump on this deal you have.. it might not be the cheapest you can find but 25k for a low mi. bimmer isnt half bad ( i paid 31 for mine and got rid of it after a year and a half.. mileage got into costly repairs)..
- the one thing i wouldnt do is buy that particular car without me personally seeing it.. i would never buy a car off the internet, just my opinion

http://www.rockbottommotors.com/files/20025302.jpg
- this was not the actual car, just what it looked like

Just a note to let you all know I have my order in with the preowned BWM manager at the only non-Sonic owned dealership in Houston for a CPO 07 530 or an 08 528 with all the bells and whistles on it.

I told him to wait until 09's were on the showroom floor and he had the exact color combo and feature list on a CPO car before calling me.

I have yet to get a call, but I think the 09's will be in the dealerships next month, right?

I'd love to have the car sooner than later, but know that the longer I wait into 2008 to get it, the better deal I will get as depreciation takes its toll. I just don't want to lose out on the window of opprortunity to get an 07 with really low miles on it. If I wait until January or February I know the pickins' on off-lease 07's will be far slimmer than just after the 09's come out and people trade in their 2 year old ones for a new one.
