From a styling standpoint, I almost always feel that the hardtop version of a car is better looking than the convertible, even my beloved Boxster isn't as handsome as teh round-topped Cayman.

The R8 is counter to my usual thinking:

I've always thought the R8 was weird looking from some angles. However, without the funky sail panels and the buttress all the way to the back of the tail, the car's proportions seem to be much better balanced. I actually like the looks of the car in these photos.

i agree with you. know what does it for me? they got rid of those stupid side 'blades' that never looked right to me on the coupe. they really look out of place and interrupt the natural flow of the body work.

Mazda could take some styling hints for the RX8 nose from this. BAD ASS!
Same basic layout as the RX8 front end, just giving the friendly folks in Hiroshima a styling lesson!
And the wheels give me a woody!! Can I have a set for my box?
Please? Pretty please?

The other day I was driving down the street thinking I was all cool with the top down when an R8 pulled aside me at the light. It had Mexican plates (Monterrey). Audi's are very in my area (even A4s) except when they are Mexican plates (usually shoping here). And were led to believe Mexico is poor? Oil!!

McAllen. I'm possibly moving back to San Jose, CA in the near future.

I built a "Tune Up Plus" building in McAllen in 1986 and another identical one in Brownsville, same time. I don't think the (Houston) franchise survived the mid-eighties eco meltdown.
The area was okay, but we were living in the edge of Hill Country (Brenham), so I didn't leave anything there I had to go back and get. The fruit from Mexico was good, especially the pineapple.
