Dude that's awesome! Haha! Its fun isn't it? I jumped near Brentwood a couple years ago. Now you have to jump out of a hot air balloon at 500 feet or so. That's a different thrill all together. Talk to you later man!
Good stuff.
I jumped back in the '70s when attending Univ. of Virginia. There was a jump club that one of my roommates found out about, and next thing you know we were doing it.
We did the solo jumps, with static lines and old surplus US Army chutes. They tended to give a little more of a jolt on the landing. (Enough of a jolt that one of our group broke his ankle on the third jump. That ended his interest and, in that he was the only one of us that had a car at that time, that was the end of our jumping adventures.)
The actual jump and (short) freefall was exciting, but the part I liked was once the chute was open: The slow descent with the only sound being a slight whistling of wind in my ears, taking in that breathtaking landscape around us, to include the Blue Ridge Mountains and Virginia countryside.
Like I said, Good stuff.
That's awesome UK!! I've always wanted to try jumping.
it's a GREAT time! this is me a couple of years ago doing the 'superman' pose.

the only part i would be scared of would be the take off, and the short flight, they dont look like safe planes, but you could always just jump off.

Embarrassing as it is to admit, the same thought crossed my mind. Especially when I saw at the 3rd pic of the second post. (The jump instructor/partner looks like he's just about reached his destination...um..if you know what I mean.)
Sorry, Unkle---just popped into my head! :o

Eeeuuuuuuuwwwwwww!
I think I shall ask my wife for skydiving for my 50th birthday. I won't get it, but it might be fun to ask for anyway.

deng..why you guys have to ruin it..i swear it was the buckle that's hitting my back....hahahahahahaha!
I think Im going to jump again but this time its tandem @ 18k feet  . I signed up already but got till mid october to decide
All in good fun, my friend.
Stick with it. Have you listened to the guys with hundreds of jumps under their belts talk about freefalling? That's what ya wanna aim for---that's where it gets truly fun. (Though, due to the aforementioned broken ankle, I unfortunately don't speak from personal experience.)

this was @ 10k ft.
Silly me...I guess if you guys jumped from 10,000' you did freefall.
When I jumped, there were no tandem chutes. You trained, did your requisite static line jumps for awhile, then started into the freefall thing (solo).
Maybe I should try it again? The altitude alone would be a blast---we jumped from 2800'.

Bah. I never jumped from more than 1,200 feet and that was too high for me.

I've only skydived once, and while it was a thrill, my ears popped sooooo bad and were so painful once was enough. Not to mention I felt like I was being beat up by a million fists in the face. I don't have any pics of me in the air, just on the ground.
