Of the cars on the list, I'd go for the NSX without a doubt. If I could deviate from the list, I honestly think I'd buy a Boxster (again).

What a fun article and fun question! I've never driven one, but I think a '94 911 wouldn't be as fun as a newer Boxster (S). Plus, roadsters are the kings of fun! I wonder why the only one listed was a Miata.

NSX is a fine choice, but I think I'd go for, dare I say, the Z06. I think it would be a blast to just slide that car around all day long. Then I'd make the NSX and M3 honorable mentions.

The Supra is cool too (but I'd rather have an RX-7 circa 1995).

I second the Z06. None of the other cars can even touch it without mods. The M3 would be next on the list, followed by the supra and nsx.

My list, which is growing:

Boxster
Z06
Old ZR1
M3 Roadster
NSX
Lotus Esprit V8 or Turbo 4
DeLorean (just for chuckles)
66 Mustag coupe-driver
Porche 968
Porsche 928 later models
Jaguar Xk8
Lexus sc400

well you get the picture

I'm a big fan of light weight and communication through the chassis and steering. If you're like me and never driven an unpowered steering air cooled 911, you owe yourself a test drive. It's what I can best describe as a very "honest" sports car. I chose the NSX because with the manual rack and a little suspension tuning it's got a similar communication and tossability but also a mid engine, far superior suspension, Honda reliability, and with all the unpainted aluminum suspension parts, it's better looking from underneith than it is from the top. It's just a little heavier than I'd like and the styling is a bit too conservative.

I agree with you on the 3rd the rx7. I've driven a number of them (and own a 1st gen) but they're only worth about 15k and without proper modifications you're looking at a very tired motor at 80,000 miles. Mazda underdesigned the cars cooling system.

read this in the magizine, would go for the Z06....did anyone catch the article in the same issue about the transport ship with all the Mazdas? They ended up destroying like 5000 Mazdas after the trasport ship rolled over....
