Nice JT. I worked for Intel a few years back here in the DC area doing Goverment Sales. But had decided to leave with the IT slump and decided to go back to finish my MBA. Somewhere along the way I got into Real Estate and have built a pretty good business on buying/selling for myself and my customers.

I do advanced R&D in electromagnetics.

I've worked with many an Intel engineer and salesman while trying to figure out a way to meet our computational needs.

I only have one question. What the heck is with all the LEDs that used to be on the old PARAGON machines? :) That always seemed pointless to me. However, I will say it was mesmerizing to watch them flash. We stuck a sign on ours that said "W.O.P.R." like in the movie "War Games"

I head up a non-profit organization that helps churches do small groups effectively (versus just starting a bunch of once-a-week meetings in homes that no one finds meaningful or transformational).

Richard- as an IT guy, I occaisionally make a foray into wood and stone sculptures. IT automation pays for our cars and vacations.

Isc7354 - Government agencies seem to have the most IT jobs lately. The pay is not so good, but the benefits, vacation and retirement packages are strong as an employee. The pay is decent as a contractor. Since the tech wreck, government IT jobs look a lot better.

I am the Regional Director for Cirrus Design. We make the world's best selling 4-place high performance single engine aircraft, the Cirrus SR-22G2. I was doing the pro-pilot thing, but due to 9/11 that all went to crap.

About two months before 9/11 I lost my job and had to go back to flight instructing making about 1/5th my income. After 9/11 that industry also went to crap. I remember buying my ford focus ZX3 and saying in 3 years this will turn into a new Boxster. It took me one year longer. During that time I came within weeks of bankruptcy, spent my retirement onfeeding my family, and worked 24/7. I got my job with Cirrus about two years ago and busted ass to make up for all that. During that time I looked, drove, kicked the tires, and read about every car from Honda to Ferrari. I still bought the 2004 Boxster and I drive it every single day.

I don't know what others do or how they came to Porsche, but I have been driving one in my head since seeing my Dentist's 911SC in the 1st grade 29 years ago.

I got my job with Cirrus due to an ad they placed in the back of Autoweek, which because of my Porsche addiction I have been reading every week since I was 14; I am 35.

I love Boxster therapy.

Retired Navy officer. Spent my career in the Civil Engineer Corps which manages the Navy's shore bases. Last job before retirement was senior engineer for the European theater at Navy HQ London. Loved sports cars since high school when I used to stare at the guts of my Triumph and figure out why it wasn't running that day. (Also had a '62 Triumph 650cc that I un-chopped and put back to stock, wish I had it still). Spent many years overseas, and hence have owned some "unusual" cars like a Fiat Panda 650cc (yeh, same size engine as the bike) and an Austin A40. Similar to some others here, I dreamed about the Porsche for a long time. Currently in second career as a project manager for construction projects.

That's the beauty of the Boxster. With the discrepancy between the price of a new 987S and a 97 non-S, the Boxster does not segregate on class, investment preference, age, or income. It just segregates the non-enthusiasts from the enthusiasts :)

well, when I bought my used Porsche it was thrilling, and the bargaining was funny! It was like this:
Salesman: I'm serious, these cars go for much more than $29,000!
Me: I'm serious too! What do you say with $25,000?
Salesman: I'll check but I don't think you'll get it.
Me: Ok

Turned out I bought it for $26,300, a good deal to me and just owning the car is an experience, I owned it almost a year before I realized that I have a rear spoiler! Porsche is the best car ever built, bottom line! And the RMS problem was handled for free under warranty, Pacific Porsche did $2800 worth of repairs for free to me. No wonder they're rated AAA at the Better Business Bureau. Just had to share

Hey, I've heard all the comments about second childhoods. Not in-frequently from a date who is enjoying a ride with the top down and the wind blasting. Believe me as you slide into your 60's there is no need to head for the rocker.

My first Porsche was a '72 914 I rebuilt from the ground up in the mid '80's. It was a beautiful little machine and most certainly not stock. Truely a pocket rocket.

My current Boxster S is a 2002 with dark blue (not sure which) with grey top and interior. Purchased it last April with less than 18,000 miles on it (currently at 25,000). I had only intended to test drive it as I was reasonably happy with the 2000 Miata SE I had as my toy car (workhorse is a Subaru Outback). I hadn't gone but a few miles when I decided I had to have this car. Probably paid too much; but, the low milage was a selling point.

I have driven a number of sports cars over the years and have owned many different ones; however, I belive Porsche has truely defined the ultimate roadster with the Boxster.

OK, I'm an assistant prosecuting attorney in the mid-Michigan area. Tried a few interesting cases, kidnapping, rape, arson, assault murder, mayhem/maim (legal term for cutting off/destroying someone's arm, legs, fingers, eyes, feet, etc.), armed robbery, embezzlement and barking dogs. Tried my first murder case a few months ago. Guilty! Never a dull day, pay not so OK, but nothing more fullfilling.

So I would say, Iatros, that it gets better, except you figured out a way to get your Boxster in med school, so it's already pretty better for you! Don't let your underpaid attendings see you driving that car!

Layout and editing at a cg (computer-generated) studio, and shoot HD video on the side. At the studio we do cinematics for video games, commercials, occasional film work. I usually drive trucks and I didn't realize I'd like a sports car until I rented a Z4 one weekend just for fun. Tried out an M, few others, found a Boxster and fell in love. A month later I got a terrific deal on a 2000 S and now I smile a little more every day

I'm new to these boards but so far they've been amazingly helpful, what a great group of people. Whoever said it was right, the vast accessibility of the Boxster eliminates the arrogance I think, all that's left is the enthusiast. Looking forward to visiting here often!

Oh, and if anyone needs some HD video shot around Los Angeles (doesn't have to be of a Boxster) let me know! So far I've been shooting motorcycle racing up at Willow Springs, but I'm flexible and looking to expand!
