Yeah, so I just finished watching Le Mans again for the one-millionth time. I can say two things:

1) Steve McQueen was the toughest man who ever lived
2) I want a 917

Some great quotes in that movie...

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well. When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

the history of that movie is funny. They had no script! they just started filiming until they had 30,000 hours of footage and someone decided "hey you think we should write a script?". LOL
One driver was asked to spin his car for a scene and the director asked can you spin it over there in that spot or around there? And he said "where? over there?? in between those two signs?"
They looked at him like he was nuts.
Sure enough he gets into the car drives in aroun 140mph and spins the car EXACTLY where they asked him to.
I guess that's why they do that for a living.

I remember when the movie came to Fredericksburg, VA. I parked my silver 911 right in front of the downtown theater. Drew no attention whatsoever.

Came out after movie and a crowd had collected around it. Never knew if they thought it was part of the movie promo or if they had just learned what it was from Steve McQueen's opening drive thru the French countryside.
