View Full Version : Stuck in Vegas
Could there be anything worst than being stuck at a airport (engine problem and all other flights fully booked) ?
Yes there is . . . . . .
Being stuck at an airport in Las Vegas on New years day with 1 hour sleep and the worst hangover I have had in years! :(
And can we turn down that PA system a little bit???? (ouch!)
And I will not even talk about that funny feeling I have in my stomach :barf:
At least I have free internet access to pass the time . . . . . .
Happy New Years!

Dude, you need a pot of that civet-pooped coffee we drank Saturday to move you past the hangover! I was wondering if you got there. Now I will start wondering when you are going to get home!
The all important question: did you win any money out there, or are you coming home with less cash than you took? (I think I know the answer, but thought I'd ask anyway).
Well if I am not paying for my sins in Las Vegas today or what I do not know?
My flight finally left Las Vegas 5 hours late, and the "Mechanical problem" was that the captain did not like the way his seat felt and had them fly one in from Chicago to replace it with!
Now let's talk about Chicago (While I am waiting on my deep dish to arrive) yeap I am now stuck in a hotel in Chicago, the kind folks re-routed me from Vegas to Chicago to Houston.
Then with high winds in Chicago it canceled a few flights and then they re-booked me on the last one tonight and you guessed it.....
The flight from Chicago to Houston was canceled! And get this; the reason it was canceled was they could not find the pilot??? Hello did you look in the bar?
So now I am on a standby for 7:30am . . . .
Oh and yes what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas (and that was my money) but my wife did tell me I had a good time.
Update:
Was it really a high wind that canceled the flights??????
Did the pilot "Just disappear" ?????
Or was it a UFO at O'Hare airport? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,240537,00.html
Houston . . . we have touch down.
a little over 27 hours to get from Las Vegas to Houston, thanks United Airlines!
BTW: Chicago has some of the best pizza!
Wow, that sucks my friend. I can't believe 27 hours! I think I must have drank the same thing you did...I woke up in Santa Fe with my wife poking me asking if I was still alive. I accidentally burped and she commented on the fact that I smelled like a brewery.
Attention Beer Connosuirs (I know I spelled that wrong): Monk Ale is an incredible brew made by monks in Pecos, NM. My bruthas from utha Muthas, that is a quality swill! Look into it.

Travis,
Sorry you had such a rough time getting home ( isn't airline travel great ! ) but glad to hear you got a chance to sample some of the great pizza we have here in the windy city :p
Wife and I just got back from New York City this morning. Spent our first married New Years together in Times Square with 1 million of our closest friends ringing in 2007.
Hope everyone has a great year !

Sweet Pics Nick! Thanks for posting...our New Year resolution was to be in Times Square for next year. Was it worth it? I have to ask this question because I have been to Mardi Gras and ran into this pants threatening problem...with 1 mil people hanging out late at night and bathrooms limited...where in the world can you take a leak after drinking beer all night? Do they have porta johns set up? Weird question, but everytime I see the celebration on TV that thought enters my mind.

Rail -
with you being in Texas I thought you knew the routine . . . .
1. Walk around with large beer cup
2. Drink beer
3. Use large beer cup to pee in
4. Leave beer cup on counter
5. Tourist think it is free beer
What?????
Well at least it was not as sick as Rail's turd fishing cat on the other post! :D
Oh and a Big Congrats to you Nick & Wife!!!

It was cool, but VERY expensive. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis. Mixed drinks were $13 ! You start lining up at 3:30 pm for a good spot on the street. No alcohol is allowed in Times Square, no port-a-potties, and cops everywhere. If you leave you cannot return. We hung out for a couple of hours then went back to the hotel, sat in the bar, drank, ate, watched the Bears get destroyed by the Packers, then went down to the street at 11:00 pm and saw the ball drop and the confetti fall. A once in a lifetime thing but I would not do it again. If you go, the Marriott had a private party for $300 pp ( including dinner ) overlooking Times Square ( bring a tux ). That would have been a better call. BTW – I have been to Mardi Gras 6 times and the crowds in Times Square were WAY worse !
Oh, and thanks, Travis !

Nick, where did you pee? I hear people just pee on the street in TS.
Marquis is a great place for NY. We stayed there one year and had a room overlooking TS... very cool.

Audio,
We only hung out on the street for about two hours before we left and went to the hotel bar. There were cops everywhere so I don't think peeing on the street would be a good option.
I was impressed with the Marquis as well, great hotel and great location.
We left the hotel bar about 11:00 pm and went down to the street in front of the hotel. Not as great a location as we had to begin with, but better than sitting on the street for 8 hours with no booze, food, or bathrooms !
