Boys and girls, I'd like you to meet a new member of the family. The all new 1996 Acura TL 2.5 (all new?). This is my new daily driver.

(pause for cheers)

You see, I've kinda kept my previous daily driver in the closet because, well... because it's... it's a Probe. There, it's out, everyone knows it. I've been driving a Ford Probe (GT of course). Now it's time to retire that vehicle that has served me so poorly and move on to something a bit more Japanese. When my cousins heard about the news, they celebrated with glee, as seen in the photo below.

Planned mods you ask? Nothing crazy. A De-amberfication of the rear tail lights and tinted windows. I'm keeping this one simple, running, and smooth.

In conclusion, shameless ebay auction plug: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270076928467&rd=1&rd=1

The Acura is a fine car. I had the same car, same color.

Good luck.

The Ford Probe was a Mazda MX6/626 with different sheet metal. They are actually fairly decent cars... my wife had a MX6 with the V6 in it years ago.

The Acura should serve you well!

Uh-oh. I just saw a news story on "Ghost riding". Hope your cousins weren't engaged in that when you snapped the pic!

Those 2.5 TLs are fine cars. I always thought highly of them and their predecessor the Vigor, and wonder why they never really caught on. Perhaps it's the somewhat odd 5-cylinders design.

I'm guessing you got a good price on it, perhaps even less than the car is actually worth and certainly less than the long sevice life you'll get out of it.

BTW, how much did that Cowboys loss blow? (assuming you're a fan, as I am)

uhhh maybe he does know what the gang sign means and thinks the picture taker is a clueless adult :D
I was on the subway the other day and couldn't believe what these little tweens were talking about (rather loudly) the word bitch must have been said 20 times.
I'll spare you the content but I'd didn't know about that sort of thing until I was a senior in H.S.!!
ANother time two girls (no older than 12) were walking home with groceries from this D'agostino market and a third friend ran up behind one of the girls and knocked the grocery bag out of her arms. The angry girl reacted by saying "oh hell no you f*%#'n Chinese hooker!!".
THis completely stranger and I just looked at each other

Probes were cool in high school back in the day... and I imagine they all took beatings. What's not cool is how much it costs to repair one. Honestly, it's not too far off from a Boxster (independent shop -not dealership prices).

I got this TL from a co-worker. I've been asking her to sell it to me for over a year now. She was the second owner and bought the car with 3600 miles on it. Hondas are phenomenal cars in the reliability department -Half of my family has TLs. I know this car will be great. I love it already.

My prerequisites for the daily driver were, a) Honda product that's actually assembled in Japan, b) 4-door, c) an automatic, & d) must have a sunroof. This fits the bill, all for less than $3k to boot. KBB puts it at around $4k.

As for my cousin... I'm sure the camera just caught his motion at an inopportune time (suuure). And because of his oldest brothers, I'd be willing to bet he is aware of what "the shocker" is, unfortunately...

In sports news, Tony Romo owes me lots of money. Ah well, I also like Chicago.

The TL has been fun the past few days, but I may be getting the Boxster back this WEEK! AL-RIIIGHT. Keep watching the boards!

I second that motion on the reliability of Hondas. I've got and still drive a Honda Accord, 1994. 203,00+ miles and virtually no repairs. AMAZING!!
