I build computers for my friends and family so I figured I would try an arcade game. My friends and I really like to play this game called Golden Tee but its huge and the wife would strangle me if I put one in the living room. I decided to make a portable version heres what I have done so far. Bought all the insides from the full size video game and built a small box to house the components. Im going to wire it to plug into my television through s-video. You probably wont appreciate this project unless you like golf and video games. Needs wired and few other things done but its getting there.

See that round hole on the back side of the box, where you won't be able to see it?

Its all wired up and I shot my first round of golf. The picture is much better than represented on the screen, that shot was with rca jack. I since hooked it up via s-video, looks great.

that's pretty cool! my friend actually bought the full size version and it ran him in the neighborhood of 3 to 5 K a couple years ago? what all was involved to buy the parts...not going to do it...just curious....
on a side note, cool game but it tends to attrack some dopes to play it....so I have to beg to ask the question, you always see the guys that like to slam the screen as they roll up to swing....better not have any of them over or the TV is gonna get launched :D

It was pretty simple basicaly all the insides from the big version and a convertor to go from rgb to ntsc. As fas as the slammers go, this will be on a stand about 10 feet away from the TV and they may just launch themselves. The game box is made of 3/4 MDF and is pretty stout.
I just get so bored in the winter, what to do now? There actualy is alot of interest in this game. I may build more and just sell them as a kit. A few people have already requested one.
I don't play many video games, but I enjoy playing Golden Tee every now and then. Great idea to miniaturize it.

Same with me, Im not big into video games but Golden Tee has taken many ones out of my wallet. You know its 3 bucks a pop so I figured what the heck Im bored. I've already ordered more parts to build another one but a different year. I think I will build a few different years. Being portable is really nice too.
