Exactly. Even if you don't have a hard top, it is a great idea to apply it to your rubber seals/gaskets on the doors, trunks, and convertible top header. I also put some on my clamshell although that isn't really a rubber gasket. The Boxster chassis was designed as a convertible and is pretty stiff, but it still flexes and those seals are quieter with some gummi phledge on them.

A late response I know, but I recently bought a hard top and had no idea about the caps you mention. Can you post a photograph?
My roof does fit well, but I did adjust the three H5 bolts on either side by the locking handles. That gives vertical and lateral movement so it seats better.

Hi,
It might help it fit better if you loosen the three H5 bolts above the locking lever behind the plastic cover. They allow for lateral and vertical movement. Mine fitted snugly after I did that before locking the levers.
